Drake is committed to offering you a wide range of study abroad options for J-term, summer, semester, and full-year programs throughout the world.
Studying abroad is an important part of life at Drake. The Global Engagement Office is here to support you in finding the right program, whether joining a traveling seminar within the U.S., or studying internationally for a semester. We want you to find a program that aligns with your academic goals, challenges you to grow, and empowers you to become an engaged global citizen.
Drake Programs are offered internationally and throughout the U.S., and happen during J-term, summer, and the spring semester. Drake Programs can last between about 10 days up to about 16 weeks during a semester abroad. Drake Study Abroad Programs are led by Drake faculty or staff, and Drake students enroll in the program through our Education Abroad Portal (not through myDrake or myDusis). Students earn Drake University credit through a Drake Program experience.
Drake has signed agreements with international partner institutions where our students can attend their institution, while a student from their institution comes to Drake. Most of our Exchange Programs are for a semester abroad, but there are J-term and summer options too.
We partner with study abroad organizations to provide an even broader range of programs—to make sure we have programs in countries throughout the world, as well as programs for all majors. Students who want to study abroad for a semester may want to consider an Affiliate Program option if they cannot find a Drake Program or Exchange program that meets their personal and academic preferences.
Beyond studying abroad, students have opportunities to do Experiential Learning Programs abroad, like internships, service-learning, and research abroad. Students looking for an extra resume boost should consider programs that include experiential learning!
It’s never too early to consider which program(s) might suit your interests and needs. Choosing a program can be one of the most exciting, yet challenging parts of the study abroad planning process. There are many questions you should consider when narrowing down which program would be best for you. Asking these questions will help you meet personal, academic, and professional goals through your study abroad program.
Visit our Study Abroad Program Search to narrow down your options. You can search by location, term, area of study and program type to help you find the best fit for you!
